Description

This course is designed for the catalogue of "Lifelong Learning Initiatives" of the PNRR Project of the Innovation Ecosystem "NODES – Digitable and Sustainable North West”, in particular for the subjects of Spoke 4.
This module consists in three parts. The first deals with basic concepts in energy economics as the distribution of sources and consumption patterns at the geographical level, the analysis of demand and supply of different energy sources and the use of energy by sectors. World energy outlook scenarios are commented under the lens of scenario building approaches. The second part allows students gathering main analytical tools to consider jointly energy issues and climate change impacts and policies. The economic analysis of policy impacts over the long term and burden sharing issues in the international bargaining process are also analyzed. The third part provides elements of the three pillars forming the EU long-term sustainable energy strategy, with emphasis on clean energy technologies, emission trading scheme and green finance.

The course, designed in collaboration between Politecnico di Torino and Università Roma Tre, is designed with an inter-disciplinary approach that encourages the exchange of skills and knowledge between professors, employees of partner companies and PhD candidates and students. The course ensures not only a high-level technical training, but also a wide engagement of different actors who will foster collaboration within the Ecosystem. Participants will be able to develop transversal skills that will enhance technological transfer, innovation and research. The course will train climate change specialists in energy economics, analysis of policy impacts, EU sustainable energy strategy, and green finance.
The course, designed within the framework of Spoke 4, introduces the knowledge regarding climate policy, energy security and green finance. The knowledge acquired during the course will contribute to the development of innovative technology intended to support the implementation of EU adaptation and mitigation policies in mountain regions. The technological transfer and exchange of expertise between experts will also promote the environmental conservation of the mountain territory by implementing initiatives on water management, forestry and tourism.
