NODES Spoke 1, along with Piemonte Innova and companies funded by cascading calls, is participating in We Make Future (WMF) 2025. This international festival is dedicated to digital and social innovation and is hosted annually in Italy. WMF brings together technology, business, culture, and education to promote a more sustainable future. The event offers opportunities for startups, companies, students, professionals and institutions: startups can present their projects and meet investors, mature companies will find opportunities for networking and technological upgrading, new possibilities start collaborations and support innovation projects to start collaborations and innovative projects.

In light of the major paradigm shifts currently underway in the aerospace sector, Spoke 1 Aerospace and Sustainable Mobility is organizing a workshop to discuss new findings, theories, and models that analyze New Space from economic, managerial, and policy perspectives. This will help define the current state of the sector, which is undergoing rapid change and high levels of innovation. The workshop will feature specialized researchers and lecturers from top international universities.  

Presenting the results of Spoke 1 - Aerospace and Sustainable Mobility. In Turin, April 3, 2025, Spoke 1 is organizing a new meeting to strengthen the connection and dialogue between academia and business. Part of the NODES Ecosystem Roadshow 2025, the event is dedicated to Spoke 1, Aerospace and Sustainable Mobility. With a tangible focus on the project results achieved, the meeting will give voice to the companies and researchers involved in the Ecosystem, to encourage networking with other companies and key players in the area to further develop products and projects, or bring them directly to market.  

Please note that due to circumstances beyond our control, the event has been rescheduled from November 29 to December 6. In Bari, December 06, 2024, Spoke 1 is organizing a new meeting dedicated to the cooperation between academia and local businesses. The event, organized within the NODES Ecosystem Roadshow 2024, will be an opportunity for discussion between the innovation actors already involved in the Ecosystem and the realities of Puglia and the whole Southern Italy, important assets of the Italian Space sector. The event is designed tho share research and development activities carried out within and thanks to Spoke 1, so as to allow companies, large medium or small, but also start-ups, to compare not only with each other, but also interact with the innovative academy, with the aim of strengthening or creating new synergies, from north to south and from south to north. In fact, during the event, the following will be presented: The results to date and expectations of the Space4You project, a wide-ranging applied research project carried out by Politecnico di Torino, Università di Torino, Politecnico di Bari and Links Foundation The progress of industrial research and experimental development projects funded by the cascade calls The cascade calls of Spoke 1, Aerospace and Sustainable Mobility, have enabled the launch of over 20 industrial research projects, carried out by both large and small companies. Spoke 1 already counts over 70 companies in its network through research projects and training activities, and it will continue working to simplify dialogue among innovation players across the NODES territories, both in the north and the south, fostering a productive fabric in synergy and a more competitive “Spazio system.” BINP, the incubator for entrepreneurial projects, startups, and spin-offs promoted by Politecnico di Bari, will host the event in its Sala Formazione at Via E. Università di Catania, a partner of Spoke 1 Aerospace and Sustainable Mobility and an integral part of the Electro Flagship Project, the research project dedicated to electric mobility (a new in-depth discussion on Electro can be found here), is organizing the seminar “Power Electronics for Electric Mobility,” on Nov. 6, 2024. The research team for Spoke 1 in Università di Catania, led by Professor Giacomo Scelba, will present advances on On-board Battery Charging solutions based on GaN technology. The seminar is organized by the research groups of Converters, Electrical Machines and Drives and Electrical Engineering of Unict and will allow to discover, in addition to Electro-related activities, the other results of the research activities of the two groups, on power electronics. The event is aimed at strengthening or creating new synergies between research and industry, and Spoke 1 will also briefly present the goals and achievements of its efforts to fund industrial research and to form networks and connections between innovation players in the area, especially from a collaborative perspective between excellences from the northwest and southern Italy. Spoke 1 is participating in the 75th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in 2024. This annual event brings together all stakeholders in the space industry with the goal of maximizing the sharing of new ideas and innovations that will define the future of space exploration. The theme of this year's congress is "Responsible Space for Sustainability." Space is a critical resource for the world's population, and the technologies it provides are essential to our daily lives. However, like all resources, it must be exploited responsibly. Spoke 1 is presenting the Digital and Sustainable Northwest Ecosystem at the conference in collaboration with the Politecnico di Torino. During Friday's event, attendees will be able to learn about Spoke 1 at the Politecnico di Torino area, meet Spoke representatives and researchers from the Space4You Flagship Project, and interact with some of the companies and academic PoCs funded through the cascading calls.   International Astronautical Congress 2024  

I Flaghsip Project dedicati alla Mobilità sostenibile presentano i loro progressi durante Next Generation Mobility 2024 Next Generation Mobility è dedicato alla filiera della mobilità e all'incontro tra gli attori dell'innovazione, cioè aziende, start up, università e istituzioni, che potranno confrontarsi su innovazione, sulle opportunità di business, su compliance e riforme del settore. Spoke 1 presenterà l'andamento dei suoi due Flagship Project dedicati alla mobilità, al lavoro su vettori energetici complementari per il raggiungimento degli obiettivi di decarbonizzazione europei. Oltre ai referenti scientifici del progetto, sarà presente anche Fondazione Piemonte Innova, per confrontarsi con il mondo dell’impresa relativamente alle necessità delle filiere della mobilità.  

Spoke 1, Aerospace and Sustainable Mobility meets on June 19, 2024 to find new ideas and new synergies among the many actors involved in the project. In fact, Politecnico di Torino and its partners are organizing a meeting where industry and academia will meet to present the progress and results achieved by the different Spoke projects. Thanks to the presentations of the various R&I activities, i.e., flagship projects and Proof of Concepts, both industrial and academic, and the wide space given to the discussion, the Spoke 1 actors will be able to identify synergies and contact points useful to fully exploit the great expertise gathered in the Spoke. In addition to several informal moments, the event will feature three discussion tables, organized by theme, Aerospace, Electric Mobility and Hydrogen. In the program of meetings of Biennale Tecnologia 2024, NODES Spoke 1 will be present with the meeting "The space near us" on 20 April at 3 pm. It will be possible to discover what is the New Space Economy, in relation to what happens in space, and to analyse the impact that space economy activities have on everyday life. In particular, the role of innovative nano- and micro-satellites operating to provide important services for people will be discussed. The debate will be attended by Sabrina Corpino (Professor of Aerospace Engineering at Politecnico di Torino), Giorgio Saccoccia (Special Advisor to the Director General at ESA and former President of ASI) and Andrea Taramelli (Full Professor at the IUSS University of Pavia). During Biennale Tecnologia 2024, the innovative business incubator and NODES partner I3P, on Thursday 18 April 2024 from 4.30 p.m., will offer the opportunity to meet the founders of several startups in the space sector in order to understand how an entrepreneurial idea was born and how to turn it into reality. Three innovative companies supported by the incubator will be the guests: AIKO (deals with artificial intelligence for the automation of space missions), Space Cargo Unlimited (intends to exploit production in space for commercial purposes), and Space V (deals with bio-regenerative systems for space missions).  The event will be attended by Giorgio Albano (Co-Founder and CLO of AIKO), Veronica La Regina (General Manager of Space Cargo Unlimited), Franco Malerba (Co-Founder and BSM of Space V), Giuseppe Scellato (President of I3P) and Leo Italiano (Senior Consultant of I3P).  More information and registration on the Eventbrite platform.

Envipark, a partner of the NODES project, will host ENVIH2DAY on April 5, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., an event that will bring together local actors related to the hydrogen supply chain. The initiative aims to create new opportunities and synergies among Northwest and European actors active in the hydrogen field. Speeches are planned by Environment Park and Spoke 1 of NODES, the Polytechnic of Turin as well as some researchers from the 16th IEA Task 30 Electrolysis Workshop that will identify the prospects and opportunities of the hydrogen supply chain at the international level. Pitch and networking moments are also planned in order to introduce local realities working in the hydrogen supply chain and establish synergies. It will be possible to visit the Environment Park laboratories. The event will be conducted in English and Italian, with the help of translators. You can register on the Eventbrite platform.  

Il Vehicle Technology and Transportation Innovation Meetings è un evento dedicato alla tecnologia della mobilità che riunisce la comunità dei veicoli e dei trasporti. Partecipano sia costruttori di veicoli, che fornitori di componenti, decisori della mobilità, imprenditori delle tecnologie dirompenti e fornitori di soluzioni.  Spoke 1, con il supporto di Fondazione Piemonte Innova, partner del progetto, sarà infatti presente all’evento con uno stand dedicato al progetto NODES, i partecipanti potranno approfondire le attività di ricerca e innovazione sviluppate dallo Spoke 1 – Aerospazio e Mobilità Sostenibile, sia livello di ricerca, sia a livello di progettualità in collaborazione con le aziende, vincitrici delle bandi a cascata emanati dallo Spoke. Miriam Pirra, responsabile delle attività di Engagement dell’ecosistema, racconterà le attività dello Spoke 1 e modererà la presentazione dei 6 progetti presentati dalle aziende e finanziati dai bandi a cascata NODES. Lo Spoke 1 - Aerospazio e mobilità sostenibile - si riunirà il 23 Gennaio 2024 a Torino per valutare da vicino, con i gruppi e i propri Partners, lo stato dei lavori dello Spoke in vista della General Assembly dell'Ecosistema.
