SDTex-ColAI
Integrated management software for Digital Textile Printing with Artificial Intelligence models for Colorimetry

Scheda del progetto
The project aims to develop an advanced system for managing and optimizing the digital printing process, through the development of innovative RIP (Raster Image Processing) printing software. After the phase of defining the technological architecture for the centralized management of the RIP, a recipe color profile will be developed to guarantee uniform and high-quality printing results. The software will then be validated on an EPSON Monnalisa printer. The objective is to develop a color recipe control system based on artificial intelligence, which will allow managing context variables and improving the interpolation formulas used in the printing process. The effectiveness of this AI model will be validated for both accessories and apparel products in a real production environment. There will be an advancement of knowledge in the field of color management and artificial intelligence applied to digital printing with the expectation of a significant impact on the companies involved, through the introduction of new products and more efficient processes that will lead to an increase in turnover and a greater market share.

In the textile sector, optimizing color rendering is a crucial aspect for the production of high-quality textile products in an increasingly efficient and controlled way. Using artificial intelligence in the context of new RIP software offers several opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy in managing color parameters. We will consider various factors that influence color rendering, such as the type of fabric, environmental conditions and specific characteristics of the printing process. AI can use this information to determine the ideal settings to achieve the desired color rendering, minimizing errors, reducing the need for manual intervention and allowing fewer trials. The direct communication of the new software with machinery and ERP will allow greater efficiency and effectiveness, i.e. maximization of yield, especially in the management of the very important phases of coloring and coloring of the designs, optimizing the production processes.
The numerous variables that intervene in the printing phase, both environmental and technological, cannot be completely monitored and therefore integrated into the production process. SDTex-ColAI aims to define this implicit know-how through new digital and intelligent solutions, formalized and tracked, thanks to the development of innovative software and RIPs that can capitalize on this knowledge, currently delegated to the individual operator. In this way it will be possible to effectively revolutionize the current process of the textile industry, allowing a significant improvement in terms of quality, efficiency and innovation.
The integrated and automated approach goes beyond traditional solutions and will offer greater precision and consistency in color reproduction, thanks to new algorithms that will overcome the limitations of conventional solutions which can require many manual adjustments and iterative experimentation to achieve the desired result. The specific application of artificial intelligence in the context of digital textile printing, and in particular of color starting from product design, represents an element of originality in the project.
