The Sustainable nutrition for a healthy lifestyle course will have the main objective of providing students with the correct information regarding a healthy and sustainable diet that follows the principles of the Mediterranean Diet. In addition, other trendy food models will be presented, evaluating their impact on health and the environment. It is essential to inform industry experts about the choices to be made to produce new products in line with the latest evidence on correct nutrition and food sustainability, but also to educate consumers to make more balanced and sustainable food choices.
The course Sustainable nutrition for a healthy lifestyle will have as its main objective to provide students with the correct information regarding a healthy and sustainable diet that follows the principles of the Mediterranean Diet.
Experts from the academic world will address the topic by developing various themes including: the principles of the Mediterranean Diet; what tools exist to evaluate adherence to the Mediterranean diet; the Mediterranean diet as a lifestyle; sustainable nutrition, what it is and how to adopt it to reduce the environmental impact of the food we choose; other fashionable food models and their impact on health and the environment.
The course program will be taught by leading experts in the academic world.
- 13/06/2025 9-13 online lesson on the topic of “Mediterranean Diet” conducted by Dr. Monica Dinu (Researcher at the University of Florence).
- 20/06/2025 9-13 online lesson on the topic“Fashionable food models and their impact on health” conducted by Dr. Monica Guglielmetti (Research Fellow at the University of Pavia).
- 27/06/2025 9-13 online lesson on the topic“Food sustainability” conducted by Prof. Daniela Martini (Professor Associate of the University of Milan).
The course is organized within the NODES Spoke 7 project whose mission is to increase the competitiveness of the local food system in terms of safety, quality and added value of food products, through digitalization, circularity, sustainability of the supply chain, growth of the skills of operators in the sector and the creation of new and innovative entrepreneurship.
The course also takes into account the vision of Spoke 7 which calls for the improvement of the food production system that would allow to maximize the positive impact on society, developing new models of consumption and sustainable lifestyles, as well as promoting new communication models aimed at informing and educating consumers about sustainable food production. For these reasons, organizing a course on sustainable nutrition for a healthy lifestyle would be perfectly addressed to the objectives of the Ecosystem and SPOKE 7.
The course will be aimed at everyone, including professionals in the food sector, students (undergraduate, graduate, master's, doctorate and specialization schools), experts in human nutrition and clinical nutrition. This is because it is essential to inform industry experts about the choices to be made to produce new products in line with the latest evidence on healthy nutrition and food sustainability, but also to educate consumers to make more balanced and sustainable food choices. Furthermore, the importance of an evidence-based diet will be explored in order to train professionals able to identify which foods are essential to follow the principles of the Mediterranean Diet and which are other trendy food models.
