Applications for 0to1 Acceleration Sprint are now open
The acceleration program for agrifood tech starts Applications for 0to1 Acceleration Sprint, the new acceleration program promoted by NODES Spoke 7, are open until July 13, 2025. The initiative is aimed at startups and innovative projects in the agrifood tech sector and aims to strengthen their market positioning, promoting access to investments and the creation of strategic relationships.   Launch event The program will be inaugurated on July 15, 2025, from 9:30 to 12:30, with an in-person event at the Cavallerizza Reale (UNITO), Via Verdi 9, Turin. Registration is mandatory through the form.   Program objectives and recipients “0to1 Acceleration Sprint” aims to: Support innovative projects in the validation and development of the business model; Promote matchmaking with investors and strategic partners; Promote access to new opportunities for growth and investment; Support the development of solutions in the Green Food, Smart Food and Healthy Food sectors. The program is aimed at: Proof of Concept, Startups and Spin-offs, even those not yet established; Projects that propose innovative solutions for the agri-food industry, in particular in the sectors: Sustainable production (Green Food), Intelligent systems and transformation 4.0/5.0 (Smart Food) and Safe and healthy foods (Healthy Food). From Research to Business: Sustainable Strategies for Public Health
A seminar on sustainability in Pavia: an integrated approach for the future of the planet On June 20, 2025, at Simbiosi – Innovation Center Giulio Natta in Giussago (PV), an unmissable event will be held for those interested in the sustainable future of our society.   The seminar, open both in presence (with mandatory registration by June 9 at this link) and online without the need for registration, it will offer an in-depth overview of sustainability through an integrated approach that embraces the entire supply chain, from industry to health.   During the day we will talk about: sustainable technologies for efficient use of environmental resources; circular economy strategies and waste valorization; extraction of bioactive molecules with nutraceutical and therapeutic potential, also in the fight against malnutrition. The program also includes a guided tour of Simbiosi, a unique opportunity to discover green technologies already in operation, immersed in a natural environment consistent with the values ​​of innovation and environmental responsibility. Simbiosi was born from agro-environmental research projects and today presents itself as a point of reference in the application of sustainable solutions for industry, public services and the real estate sector.   With the concept of "Environment Producers", it promotes the conscious use of natural resources, the reduction of emissions, the valorization of waste and the protection of biodiversity. Spoke 7 at We Make Future 2025
NODES Spoke 7 will be the protagonist at WMF 2025, the international fair dedicated to innovation, technology and the future, within the Innovation Area. We will be present at the collective stand “Ecosistema dell’Innovazione Piemontese”, coordinated by the AGRIFOOD and ICT hubs. An opportunity for international visibility for 6 Spoke 7 entities, which will have the chance to talk about their projects, network and meet investors, innovators, companies and startups from all over Europe.

Results and impact of Spoke 7 PoCs The technology transfer path represents a strategic element to transform scientific research into concrete solutions to support the competitiveness of the agro-industrial sector.   The event "From Research to Business: Results and Impact of Spoke 7 PoCs" on Tuesday 25 March 2025 aims to tell the results obtained by the Proof of Concept (PoC) projects developed within Spoke 7, with particular attention to innovations for secondary agro-industry and initiatives to support entrepreneurship.   The meeting will be an opportunity to present prototypes, products and demonstrators resulting from the PoC activities, enhancing the impact of innovative solutions on the production system and on companies in the sector.   Programme: 14:00 – Registration 14:15 – Presentation and start of work 14:30 – Results and impact of industrial PoCs in secondary agro-industry 15:30 – Promoting entrepreneurship: initiatives for innovation and competitiveness in the agri-food sector 16:00 – Tangible innovation: products, prototypes and demonstrators 17:15 – Closing of proceedings   The event is open to the world of research, to companies, startups, investors and stakeholders interested in discovering how research can become a driver of development for the agri-food sector.   Participation is free, subject to registration at the link below.    SIGN UP HERE

Innovation Paths in Agroindustry
An event dedicated to companies on March 12 in Cuneo The conference "Paths of innovation in the agro-industry" will be held on March 12, 2025, at the Aula Magna of the Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Food Sciences (DISAFA) of the University of Turin in Cuneo.   The event will be an opportunity to explore the new frontiers of innovation in the agri-food sector. After the welcome and institutional greetings, a session of interventions will follow on key topics such as: Robotics and agro-industry, with the design of a mobile robot for the collection and analysis of wine samples. Circular economy in the wine sector, with the presentation of a platform to promote sustainable practices. Communicating sustainability in food & beverage, to improve consumer perception.   From 11:30 to 12:30, a round table will discuss opportunities for growth and inclusion in the Piedmont agro-industry.   Innovative studies will be presented during the event, including: Biomechanical nanosensors for surface safety Consumer perception of technologies to extend the shelf-life of meat Use of agri-food by-products, such as the addition of hazelnut and apple extracts in meat burgers and brewing with apple scraps The event, organized by Spoke 7 NODES in collaboration with the Interdepartmental Center for Food and Anti-Fraud Research, requires mandatory registration by March 11, 2025.   MANDATORY REGISTRATION

FOOD, COMMUNICATION, SUSTAINABILITY
A day dedicated to the results of the communication working group kicks off in Pollenzo The calendar of events for NODES Spoke 7 is enriched thanks to the workshop Food, communication, sustainability: reflections starting from the NODES project.   The event is held at the University of Gastronomic Sciences and has two main objectives: to provide a platform for the dissemination of the results of part of Spoke 7 of the NODES project, focusing on sustainability communication, including corporate communication and food education awareness. to promote dialogue between the scientific community of the NODES project and other productive entities (in particular the audiovisual industry) and academic disciplines (the academic community of cinema and television).   The day includes 2 panels in which some research results selected from the NODES project will be presented. This will be followed by a round table on the correlation between eco-sustainability, regional development and audiovisual media, with the participation of academics, scholars and audiovisual professionals. The event will culminate with a presentation by Antonio Lopez, an internationally renowned figure in eco-media education from John Cabot University, entitled "Screening Sustainability. Food Fraud: A Global Legal Perspective
On November 11th in Pollenzo an event dedicated to the alteration and counterfeiting of food products The topic of food fraud, understood as all those illicit conducts aimed at adulteration, falsification, alteration and counterfeiting of food products and their regulation in a European and global perspective, will be the focus of the meeting that will be held on November 11th in the Aula Magna of the University of Gastronomic Sciences (11.15-13.00).   The topics covered will concern, in particular, the application of the new directive on greenwashing in the food sector, the issue of misleading commercial communication from a criminal perspective under domestic law and the issue of Italian sounding and symbolic communication on labels. Finally, an in-depth analysis is planned regarding the application of the discipline to the wine sector.   These topics will be debated by three researchers belonging to the NODES project (Lorenzo Bairati, Michele Antonio Fino and Elena Corcione), by the lawyer Nicolò Ferraris of the Turin Bar and by two members of the Carabinieri Agri-food Protection Department of Turin, Lt. Col. Raffaello Ciliento and the Ord. Mar. Fabio Chiariello.

Spoke 7 at Terra Madre - Salone del Gusto 2024
Researchers bring Spoke 7 themes to Terra Madre Terra Madre is one of the main events organized in the North-West dedicated to the theme of food. This year, NODES Spoke 7 will be present at two important moments of this great initiative.    On Thursday 26, the University of Turin (Department of Computer Science, Conference Room, 3rd floor Entrance Via Pessinetto, 12 - Piero della Francesca Side) will host the Forum delle Economie - Food Experience Nord Ovest. In this space Luisa Torri, together with other experts in the sector, will talk about what innovations Agrifood must implement in the face of macroeconomic pressures, the energy crisis and the global warming.    On Saturday 28th, Luca Cocolin will be one of the speakers at the Conference Our food is our health. Only with biodiversity can the planet be fed. The aim of the meeting will be to explore the synergies needed to support the relationship between food, human health and planetary well-being, tracing connections (more or less evident) between agroecological transition, healthy diets, soil vitality and intestinal microbiome health, food sovereignty and biodiversity.     Discover the Terra Madre program

Spoke 7 - Secondary Agroindustry- will meet on12 January 2024 in Turin to closely evaluate, with the groups and their Partners, the state of the work of the Spoke in view of the General Assembly of the Ecosystem. Examination: Design, Experimentation, Circular Economy
Design Sprint Workshop “Learning by Food Designing” On 6 November, the Cittadella Politecnica del Design e della Mobilità Sostenibile hosts Diesamina, the Design Sprint workshop “Learning by Food Designing” intended for students of the three-year degree in Sustainable Design for the Food System.   Diesamina is organized by the research group of the Polito Food Design Lab of the Department of Architecture and Design of the Polytechnic of Turin.   Between Design, Circular Economy and Food, participants will be involved in project activities - creative and practical - aimed at identifying new concepts of innovative food products, capable of valorising the surpluses and by-products generated by the local agro-industry.   Using food as a "material for design" the students involved will put into practice the skills learned during their training, reflecting on the connections between the principles of economics circular for food, food design and social and environmental sustainability.   The workshop activities integrate with the themes of Spoke 7, in particular with regard to the ability to apply the principles of the circular food economy - such as reuse and recovery: starting from surpluses or by-products that can be intercepted in the agro-industrial sector fruit-bearing secondary plant in the area, we will try to define new concepts of edible products.
