il corso sarà erogato in lingua inglese - The course will be held in english

Course objective

The course wants to provide the knowledge and tools necessary to better understand the modalities of the European Emergency Management Service, funded by the Copernicus program, in order to be able to use and integrate the products generated at all spatial levels (local, regional, national, and international).

The programme, organised with the resilience and innovation objectives of NextGenerationEU and of the NODES Ecosystem in mind, will address topics related to the use of Earth observation data for the creation of maps and datasets useful for the management of emergencies resulting from natural disasters and/or events caused by human activities.

Particular attention will be given to the characteristics of the products generated, their integration into the emergency response and monitoring procedures by public and private entities involved in the interventions, and how to request activation and interact with the service itself.

Understanding the status quo and methods of product implementation can ensure better management of emergencies and in general a better capacity for prevention and innovation of structures on the territory of the Ecosystem and the country.

The course will be delivered in collaboration with the Joint Research Center of the European Union, an entity that coordinates the service at the European level, and the Department of Civil Defense. The course is also organized in cooperation with ISPRA as part of the activities of the "Geosciences" project.

Spoke 1 Copernicus - Emergencies
Program:

- The Copernicus program and the national-level organization

- Theoretical and applied assumptions

- Description of the service and practical examples

The course is aimed at professionals who want to gain in-depth knowledge of the emergency management service developed under Copernicus (https://www.copernicus.eu/it), the European Union's Earth observation program.

Through this thematic focus, the course aims to transfer knowledge about the operation of Copernicus, starting with the dynamics of public-private collaboration and technology transfer.

The program is therefore aimed at personnel from sectors such as:

local and national public bodies (including local civil defense agencies), private companies from the sectors most interested in developing new data-driven approaches to emergency response (e.g., insurance sector, agriculture, utilities), aerospace companies that intend to develop products and solutions for emergency management using Earth observation data.

Piero Boccardo:

"Earth observation and geodata to mitigate, manage and monitor natural and manmade emergencies. How to contribute, get the data, extract added value information and use it? Which is the role of public admnistrations and private companies? Can we improve citizen's involvement in monitoring and recovery phases?"
