EXPO Osaka 2025 - Spoke 1 presents research and innovation for the aerospace sector
Spoke 1 NODES, on the occasion of EXPO 2025 in Osaka, presents the current state of the aerospace sector and the contribution of the North-West Italy ecosystem to the significant growth of investments in a rapidly changing industry that faces increasing challenges. During the talk "Wings of Innovation", organized by the Politecnico di Torino at the Italy Pavilion, Spoke 1 Aerospace and Sustainable Mobility presented to an international audience, including researchers from the most important Japanese universities, the role of the Italian ecosystem and, in particular, the high number and quality of actors located in the north-western territories. Giuseppe Scellato, scientific coordinator of Spoke 1, placed particular emphasis on the activities of the Spoke and on its role as an engine of innovation, thanks to substantial investments in applied research, industrial research, and training. During the talk, Professor Scellato showcased the research activities of the Space4You Flagship, as well as the initiatives born from the ecosystem’s calls, such as industrial projects carried out by companies in the sector and academic Proofs of Concept, the result of intellectual property generated by NODES researchers, along with startups and spin-offs originating from Spoke activities. The National Centre for Sustainable Mobility MOST also took part in the talk, with PoliTO researchers from Spoke 1 "Air mobility".

RoboAPP: all’Aeroporto di Torino prende forma il futuro dell’AI applicata alla robotica
Una nuova frontiera dell’intelligenza artificiale applicata alla robotica è stata esplorata il 18 luglio 2025 all’Aeroporto internazionale di Torino, durante l’evento “The future of AI applied to Robotics”, occasione ufficiale di lancio del Proof of Concept RoboAPP, sviluppato dallo Spoke 1 – Aerospazio e mobilità sostenibile nell’ambito del Programma NODES. L’evento ha offerto una piattaforma di dialogo e confronto tra rappresentanti delle istituzioni, ricercatori universitari, imprenditori e centri di ricerca, per approfondire potenzialità, sfide e scenari futuri legati all’impiego dell’AI in ambienti reali, complessi e dinamici.   RoboAPP: la robotica intelligente al servizio delle persone Il progetto RoboAPP – Robotic Aggregate Programming Platform – dimostra in modo concreto cosa può fare l’Intelligenza Artificiale se integrata in robot intelligenti e autonomi, capaci di muoversi, adattarsi e agire in spazi fisici. Le applicazioni riguardano ambiti cruciali come la logistica, le smart cities e l’agricoltura di precisione. Il sistema si basa su una gestione coordinata tra Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) e Small Language Models (SLM), che consente un'interazione dinamica e un'elaborazione contestuale in tempo reale. A questo si aggiunge un’infrastruttura digitale avanzata fondata su programmazione aggregata, rilevamento intelligente, comunicazione resiliente e efficienza energetica.

Digital Twin - la Città di Torino in virtuale
Un gemello in Comune - Spoke 1 NODES e il Digital Twin di Torino All’interno di Spoke 1 NODES, a partire dal lavoro del Dipartimento Interateneo di Scienze, Progetto e Politiche del Territorio del Politecnico di Torino e dell'Università di Torino si sviluppa il Digital Twin della Città di Torino.   Il Digital Twin è (ri)costruito partendo da 32mila fotogrammi e scansioni LiDAR, precise al centimetro. Una grandissima mole di dati presi da terra e dall’alto, la cui combinazione permette di creare un modello tridimensionale estremamente realistico, con l’aspetto e le proporzioni della città, in grande dettaglio. Il gemello digitale di Torino sarà utilizzato dall’amministrazione della Città per capire le necessità della città più in fretta, per pianificare efficacemente sia interventi urgenti che policy e progetti futuri. Il modello è infatti uno strumento ideale per supportare i decisori, a servizio dei cittadini.   Al momento, è possibile scoprire il modello presso Il Museo dell’Automobile di Torino con l’iniziativa “Spazio Futuro”, che offre uno sguardo sulle trasformazioni in atto per la mobilità sostenibile sulle possibili traiettorie del futuro.

ReAction – The New Program to Accelerate Startups and Sustainable Mobility
Applications Now Open for Reaction – Acceleration Program 2025   The ReAction acceleration program is back, dedicated to supporting innovative local startups. This year’s focus expands on the themes of the first edition, with the addition of Sustainable Mobility from Spoke 1.   ReAction is an acceleration program for Italian startups operating within the Ecosystem sectors, designed to foster growth in the context of the twin digital and ecological transitions, while promoting the development of innovative and sustainable industrial models.   The program offers a three-month tailored pathway, featuring thematic workshops, mentorship, founders battles, industrial worktables, business model validation support, meetings with investors, and participation in national and international events — all valuable opportunities for networking and matchmaking to build strategic connections with professionals, investors, and key stakeholders.   The program is supported by the Innovative Enterprises Incubator of the Politecnico di Torino (I3P), a key partner of Spoke 1 and a hub of essential expertise for the development of early-stage startups. I3P provides strategic consulting, coaching, mentoring, and valuable support for fundraising activities.   Main goals and benefits for selected startups: Strengthening of startup solutions, encouraging innovation and experimentation New tools to integrate ESG metrics, circular economy principles, and SDGs into business models Definition of sustainable, scalable business models Go-to-market, distribution, and sales strategies Connections with investors, companies, institutions, and other key ecosystem players   Applications are open from June 25 to July 21, 2025.   For more information and to apply:   ReAction

Spoke 1, Aerospace and Sustainable Mobility participates in Next Generation Mobility Torino 2025 The sustainable mobility companies funded through Spoke 1 calls for proposals are participating in the new edition of Next Generation Mobility Torino, scheduled to take place in Turin on December 9 and 10. This participation is part of Spoke's strategic approach, which aims to promote the development of highly efficient, low environmental impact mobility solutions, with a particular focus on electric and green hydrogen-based mobility solutions. With this in mind, the event is an important opportunity for companies, research institutions, and industrial stakeholders involved in the transition to innovative transport systems to come together and exchange ideas.

Spoke 1 – Aerospace and Sustainable Mobility participates in Aerospace & Defense Meetings Torino 2025 Spoke 1 and its companies will be present at the next edition of Aerospace & Defense Meetings, the leading international event for the aerospace industry, to be held in Turin from December 2 to 4. An opportunity for dialogue and discussion between companies, research centers, and institutions involved in the development of advanced technologies for the aerospace sector. The goal of Spoke 1 is to promote an integrated approach to research and innovation, capable of combining industrial competitiveness and ecological transition.

EXPO Osaka 2025 - Spoke 1 NODES presents research and innovation
Spoke 1 Aerospace and sustainable mobility in Japan for EXPO 2025 Politecnico di Torino and Ecosistema NODES are participating in and presenting their projects at EXPO Osaka 2025. Fifty-five years after its first EXPO, the Japanese city is once again the center of global attention. On the artificial island of Yumeshima, visitors can discover the culture, traditions, and innovations of more than 150 countries in one place. Thanks to a call for proposals from the MUR, Politecnico is bringing some ambitious research and innovation projects related to aerospace to Osaka, inaugurating the AIRONE exhibition. The exhibition can be visited inside the highly popular Italy Pavillion, which already houses, among other great Italian works, Leonardo da Vinci's Codex Atlanticus.

The future of AI applied to Robotics - RoboAPP
Robotic Aggregate Programming Platform Discussione sul futuro dell’AI applicata alla robotica ed evento di presentazione del Proof of Concept RoboAPP di Spoke 1, Aerospazio e Mobilità sostenibile. Il progetto dimostra cosa può fare l'Intelligenza Artificiale in concreto, implementata su robot intelligenti e autonomi, capaci di muoversi, adattarsi e intervenire in spazi e luoghi reali e non solo digitali, al servizio delle persone in settori come logistica, smart cities e agricoltura di precisione. Il Proof of Concept sfrutta Autonomus Mobile Robots (AMR) e Small Language Models (SLMs), in gestione coordinata.   Alle 11 di venerdì 18 Luglio 2025, presso l'Aeroporto di Torino, il team di RoboAPP discuterà con esperti, imprenditori e manager aziendali cosa può fare l’AI applicata al mondo della robotica in spazi e contesti urbani ed aziendali. Verranno presentati inoltre i primi risultati, i prossimi step di sperimentazione e le sfide che comportano per arrivare alle applicazioni concrete di queste soluzioni tecnologiche innovative, integrate in un unico ecosistema intelligente.
