DIGITAL BIO-LEATHER
Digitalisation and innovation in the production process of bio-based synthetic leather

Scheda del progetto
Digital Bio-Leather is a new synthetic leather for the fashion industry, obtained from wine processing waste, without the use of solvents or water. It uses an innovative catalytic polymerisation process to optimise the mechanical characteristics of the material, significantly reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

The project addresses the challenge of transforming agro-food waste into valuable materials by overcoming obstacles related to process efficiency and the integration of innovative solutions, such as AI, to optimise production.
The 'DIGITAL BIO-LEATHER' project is innovative because it introduces a new type of bio-based synthetic leather, developed without the use of solvents or water, using wine processing waste. This approach not only reduces the environmental footprint of the production process but also employs an innovative catalytic polymerisation process to improve the mechanical properties of the material. Furthermore, the implementation of a digitalised production process allows for more accurate control and optimisation of material consumption and performance, positioning it as a significant innovation in the synthetic leather manufacturing sector.
The technological innovation introduced by 'DIGITAL BIO-LEATHER', combined with its focus on sustainability and energy efficiency, has the potential to redefine industrial practices in the fashion and synthetic leather production industry, promoting a more ecological and responsible approach.
