Over the past 2 years, Sargomma, in collaboration with the artist Alessandro Ciffo, has developed silicone sheets for interior design applications (interior and exterior coatings) created from industrial processing waste. In order to industrialise the production of these coverings and make the product ready for marketing, Sargomma needs further research, development and prototyping services (by Alessandro Ciffo); and product design and web design consultancy (by Maurizio Prina) with the aim of creating a complete product range and setting up digital tools to allow the potential customer to preview the performance of the chosen slabs/tiles (colour, shape, chosen environment, etc.) before they are produced.

The challenge
Document

The objective is to create a complete product range and set up digital tools to allow the potential customer to preview the performance of the chosen slabs/tiles (colour, shape, chosen environment, etc.) before they are produced.

Why is it innovative
Document

Innovative project of a meeting between art and industry, which would make it possible to valorise creative ideas and realise them through the transfer and creation of new skills from the craft-artistic sphere to the technological-industrial sphere and vice versa. Moreover, the final product would be realised through the exploitation of second raw material deriving from the recovery of industrial waste from the automotive sector, in line with the objectives of Spoke 2 - "Green technologies and sustainable industries".

Impact on users
Document

Sargomma employees involved in the project will be able to develop new skills and know-how in digital design, production techniques and the design market, potentially applicable to other activities and operations closer to the company's core business. The project could also represent a golden case for collaboration between art and industry in order to recover waste from production processes and transform it into valuable artistic objects, paving the way for other companies interested in exploring the design sector with a view to diversifying their production towards a sector with high added value and of fundamental importance for the Made in Italy label.
