ITM, using digital technology, it wants to enhance the historical-cultural heritage of the textile sector of the Como district, through the development of new paths and fruition methodologies, starting from an emblematic institution: the Silk Museum. The project, aware of how the museum is not adequately exploited due to both critical issues inherent in its structure as well as its low use by a young and fragile public, aims to overcome, through immersive and augmented reality technologies, these limitations. The use of these new technologies, which allow the visitor to use coherently integrated virtual content, aims both to attract those under 18 and to spread digital skills.

ITM aims to give full visibility to the cultural heritage of the museum by expanding the target of users, thanks to greater inclusiveness and a new method of dialogue, the digital one, more suited to adolescents and vulnerable people.
In fact, ITM is also aimed at those who have previously visited the museum as it aims to offer them a new way of enjoying the museum experience.
In this way we aim to remove cognitive and sensorial barriers by promoting the inclusiveness of those segments of the population that are most difficult to reach such as fragile subjects and those suffering from disabilities. Furthermore, the project would allow us to increase the culture of sustainability with regard to profiles such as safety at work, environmental sustainability and gender equality, which comply with the UN SDG objectives.
The use of new technologies is aimed at promoting use and visibility of the museum.
Furthermore, considering that the offer of augmented reality tours within museums is still underdeveloped in Italy, ITM could become a case study to be elected as a benchmark to be exported to various museums, as well as a driving force for transmitting contents of the Museum also at an international level.
