Sustainable tourism for excursions carried out by elderly people in a mountain environment

The project promotes sustainable and assisted tourism in mountain areas, helping to enhance and preserve the natural and cultural resources of these regions and encouraging the social inclusion of the elderly by encouraging an active lifestyle and improving people's health. It involves the introduction of an innovative technological solution that combines sensors, mobile apps and real-time monitoring to address the challenges of the tourism sector and the aging population by promoting the digitalisation of mountain areas in order to address demographic, economic challenges and environmental issues of these territories.

promote the regeneration and social sustainability of mountain territories, combating social impoverishment, through the promotion of assisted tourism which, on the one hand, creates new jobs and, on the other, promotes the accessibility and safety of hiking routes for elderly people, through: route mapping and tracking of the user's position, in real time; monitoring of physical conditions, through the analysis of vital parameters collected by the app.
The project introduces an advanced technological solution that combines sensors, mobile apps and real-time monitoring to address the challenges of the tourism sector and the aging population. Furthermore, an interdisciplinary collaboration between different skills is envisaged: technological, medical and social.
new products and services are developed that improve the efficiency and quality of the tourist experience - especially for vulnerable groups - and consequently promote an increase in tourist influx into mountain areas which can generate new jobs by combating impoverishment social and economic of the same territories. In addition to this, the project contributes to the dissemination of sustainable tourism practices, environmental sustainability, social inclusion and the development of community support networks.
