The project was created to support the mobility of people in Low Demand Areas (ADD), i.e. those areas where problems related to citizens' travel and the supply of Local Public Transport (LPT) coexist. In those specific areas, given the low population density and the geographical distance, the use of private or shared vehicles is necessary. The project therefore aims to strengthen the transport system, providing flexible, on-demand and dynamic services for ADDs. To do this we will start from the study of the main players in the transport system and technologies, we will define the mathematical models and artificial intelligence algorithms and we will develop an innovative Cloud platform and a mobile application to meet the needs of different users ( residents, tourists, business travelers, commuters, etc.). Thanks to these innovative solutions it will be possible to optimize travel, save time and resources and enrich the city's transport system, with an inclusive and environmentally friendly perspective.

The challenge
Document

The main challenge is time management in relation to a series of complex technical-scientific issues to be addressed, including: the complexity of data processing and implementation of optimization algorithms, the management of different types of users, traceability in real time, the complexity in designing models that are fast and at the same time scalable, the conflicting objectives of stakeholders, the search for a complete picture of the typologies and evolutions of urban mobility, etc. For this reason, to overcome these risks, a specific target will first be chosen and then expanded to include different users (including vulnerable ones).

Why is it innovative
Document

with a simple application a person can move when and how he wants, receiving a service suited to his needs. Furthermore, the platform is open: anyone can register, both end users and suppliers, and by aggregating multiple requests there is economic and environmental savings. All this offered in a new application context.

Impact on users
Document

The system that will be created will significantly improve social inclusion and the ability of people living in rural or remote areas to access essential services such as education, healthcare and employment, consequently reducing poverty and social isolation.
Furthermore, rural communities themselves will be able to become more attractive and more prosperous for both new businesses and new people. Other beneficial impacts will be: saving public resources; the creation of new market opportunities and revenue diversification; the optimization of the number of vehicles in circulation and the consequent use of fuel and parking requirements.
