TECHNOLOGY FOR SPACE
Space has always been at the forefront of technological progress. Space applications of technology allow humanity to progress exponentially and improve many aspects of everyday life: security, navigation, Earth observation and telecommunications are just a few examples.
The Space Knowledge Gateway allows research and innovation actors to browse, in one place, the highly skilled research teams of the Ecosystem area that cover most, if not all, of the technological knowledge needed to bring space projects to fruition. From advanced materials for space applications, to technologies and algorithms to support autonomous operations, ICT, and state-of-the-art facilities to support ground operations.

Politecnico di Torino - Department of Applied Science and Technology
Research and development of engineering ceramic materials and composites, designed to target specific structural and/or functional performance, for biomedical, space/aerospace, environmental and construction sectors. Core expertise is structural and microstructural optimization, also utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as 3D printing.

Politecnico di Torino - Department of Applied Science and Technology
The team works to prepare and characterize "custom" glasses, glass-ceramics and their composites. Team members develop and test custom joints, protective coatings and new surface treatments. GLANCE researchers are experienced in particular for Space materials and applications.

Politecnico di Torino - Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
The team is expert in manufacturing, testing and modeling of fiber-reinforced composites for automotive and aerospace applications. Research focuses on composite production, mechanical behavior (static and dynamic), bio materials, damage detection, fatigue behaviour, structural optimization, including macro and micromechanical testing and modeling.
