Waste collection on demand

The project that the company Optimon intends to implement aims to develop a system for the management of "on-demand" waste collection activities. In particular, the objective is the realisation of a product/service that can have as users all those companies and, in a broader sense, realities, which manage waste collection activities in territories with low population density, characterised mainly by two recurring elements: few collection points to be managed, distributed diffusely in territories with potentially large distances.

To date, Artificial Intelligence for the automatic classification of garments is mainly used for commercial and marketing purposes. With this service, the start-up Atelier Riforma becomes the first to exploit AI to extract from a simple photograph of end-of-life garments the useful information to direct them towards recovery processes and thus valorise them in the circular economy.
The innovation service will enable the start-up to develop the hardware with a view to integration with the software system and its APP and control platform. It will also enable route optimisation with a relative reduction in CO2.
The results expected from the development may allow the service evaluation to be proposed to the managers of the realities defined as targets:
- municipalities with low population density for door-to-door collection activities
- high density municipalities for the management of specific fractions
