Narrative landscapes. Biella between language, history, aesthetics

On Friday 16 May 2025 and Saturday 17 May 2025, at Città Studi in Biella (corso G. Pella, 2 Biella), the conference will be held: "Narrative landscapes. The Biella area between language, history, aesthetics and media" promoted within the NODES - Digital and Sustainable North West project of the PNRR, in particular by Spoke 3 (Spoke 3 Tourism and Culture Industry) and aimed at enhancing a territory rich in potential such as that of Biella.
The conference will explore landscape narratives in an interdisciplinary way and with a view to promoting an emblematic territory for the relationship between a heterogeneous natural environment and a complex cultural and economic history.
The initiative will investigate, from a historical and contemporary perspective, the different forms of narration of the Biella landscape and the great variety of media they employ, taking them as opportunities for understanding, interpreting and promoting the Biella area for sustainable development in an ecological and social sense.
Involving scholars from the University of Turin and other universities, as well as stakeholders in the area, the two-day event will range from interventions on language, history, aesthetics, media, geography and anthropology, addressing both the academic community and citizens.
On the evening of Friday 16 May, the presentation and free screening of the documentary film E noi zitti? Graffiti sparsi sulle Pettinature Rivetti di Biella (2024) by Maurizio Pellegrini will take place.
The conference is promoted by the Departments of Management “Valter Cantino”, Foreign Languages and Literatures and Modern Cultures, Historical Studies and Humanistic Studies of UniTo.
