BITE
Beacon Interactive Tourist Experience

Scheda del progetto
The BITE project is based on beacons, mini BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) hardware technology with low energy consumption and great precision in micro-localization, even in indoor environments. In fact, BITE envisages the development of Apps that can be used on mobile devices that will automatically interact with the beacons as soon as the user enters their range of action. Valuable data will be obtained on tourist flows (even in areas without telephone signal), and thanks to proactive notifications it will be possible to interact with the cultural heritage and the surrounding environment. The project implements solutions which, through the collection, sharing and analysis of big data on tourist flows, will contribute to optimizing the allocation of resources and reducing congestion and wear and tear on tourist destinations. The creation of immersive and sustainable tourist experiences, in fact, together with the responsible interaction between tourism businesses and visitors, will promote the conservation of nature and the well-being of local ecosystems.

OverApp is committed to overcoming various technical and operational challenges with this project. During the development phase it will be essential to analyse, test and identify the models and types of beacon sensors most suitable for design purposes, through the acquisition and field testing of different sensors, each with unique characteristics in terms of autonomy, signal and technology. At the same time, an in-depth analysis will be implemented to identify the most suitable technological infrastructure, in particular with regards to the cloud environment, with particular attention to the issue of environmental sustainability.
The essence of BITE lies in the advanced integration between BLE technology of Artificial Intelligence Beacons and GPS, with a particular focus on the development of interactions between beacons and mobile apps. The system will work on all types of Android and iOS operating systems regardless of the type of smartphone. The initiative aims to offer unconventional, deeply immersive and sustainable tourist experiences. The main objective is to enhance local assets, adapting to the mutations resulting from climate change and ensuring ethical data management.
BITE introduces an element of originality through the triangulation between the proposing company, University and tourism company, offering a personalized tourist experience based on the precise location of the user. The combination with artificial intelligence will make it possible to offer tourists a unique experience, responding in real time to their preferences and behaviors.
