INNDIANA presents ''UPO ANATOMY TALENTS''
On May 24, 2024, in Novara at the SIMNOVA center located in Via Bernardino Lanino 1, students from the first and second years of the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery will have the opportunity to participate in an event titled ''UPO ANATOMY TALENTS''.   The talent, organized as part of the flagship porject INNDIANA coordinated by Professor Francesca Boccafoschi, aims to be a fundamental moment in learning anatomical knowledge.    Through high quality simulations, questionnaires and dissections of anatomical specimens, students will explore the musculoskeletal system, the cardiovascular system and splancnology, consolidating knowledge of micro and macro-anatomy.   The SIMNOVA center will become the stage for advanced simulations, offering to the students a preview of real practice. The design od practical and educational simulations will allow them to apply theoretical knowledge in realistic scenarios. One of the key aspects will be Team Work, with students divided into teams engaged in simulation stations of increasing complexity, promoting collaboration and individual growth.  The distinctive feature of the event is the inter-university collaboration, with the participation of students from different Italian universities, offering an opportunity for sharing experiences and multidisciplinary understanding.  This deep immersion in the detailed study of the human body will allow to the students to integrate theory and practice in a controlled and educational environment, allowing medical students to approach subjects in subsequent years with greater awareness.    The flagship INNDIANA is strongly committed to research projects in the field of biomedical sciences with particular attention to regenerative medicine, where knowledge of human anatomy establishes an indispensable link.

Eco-sustainable tourism and community. Let's start from the territory again
The Department of Law, Economy and Culture of the University of Insubria organized a conference entitled: Eco-sustainable tourism and community on 20 and 21 May 2024. Let's start from the territory again. The event, organized in collaboration with Euricse, Miledu and the Municipality of Brunate, is designed to share and discuss the results of research on the relationship and impact of tourism on the local community, with particular reference to Lake Como. The final objective of this event is to share some research results on the sustainability of tourism, also seen as a possible growth engine for the third sector economy, therefore sustainable not only from an environmental but also a social point of view, to promote knowledge and dissemination, also keeping track of critical issues. The first part of the conference will be held on 20 May 2024 from 9.00 to 1.30 in the main hall of the University of Insubria in Como Sant'Abbondio and will be divided as follows: The first session of the event will emphasize the dimension of the tourism phenomenon in the Lake Como area. Through the analysis of data and case studies, the evolution of tourism in the last decade will be analyzed and an attempt will be made to answer some fundamental questions for the governance of the territory: is there a problem of overtourism? What is the impact on the destination and governance: impact on the Como area or case studies. The second session will be focused on the impact of the social economy on tourism, on governance, on the idea of co-planning tourism with the territory. In particular, we will try to answer the following question: Why and to what extent can the third sector and/or the social economy contribute to transforming the tourism industry? Is there an active role for citizens? Finally, in the third session, case studies and best practices of organizations operating in the social economy and in territories outside Como will be presented. The second part of the conference will be held on 21 May 2024 from 9.00 to 13.30 at the municipal library of Brunate. After a specific analysis of the area there will be a succession of interventions by various associations present in the area with different job prospects. Part of the morning will be dedicated to a discussion with the citizens, the Brunate Tourism Council and the interested third sector bodies. To participate in the event click qui

Rice for Your Teeth: Discovering Pavesian Rice
As part of the ASvis 2024 Sustainable Development Festival and the sustainability and circular economy projects active at the University of Pavia, an informational and convivial meeting titled "Rice for Your Teeth: Pavesian Rice from Field to Table" will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Castello di Lardirago. This event celebrates the second anniversary of the Master’s Degree in Agrifood Sustainability at the University of Pavia.   The event, closely tied to the research activities of Spoke 6, invites reflection on rice cultivation in the Pavesian territory, with a particular focus on the "Carnaroli di Carnaroli Pavesiano" variety, as well as others such as Baldo and Rosa Marchetti. These varieties are to be protected and promoted by bringing together consumers, producers, and stakeholders who support these local excellences. However, ongoing climate change, with droughts and extreme weather events, may threaten these crops and render them less viable.   To address these concerns, climatologist Luca Mercalli will discuss the impact of climate change on Padana crops. Following this, geobotanist and lecturer Graziano Rossi and researcher Valentina Vaglia from the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Pavia, both involved in the NODES project within Spoke 6, will explore the characteristics of Pavesian rice.   The event will conclude with a lunch featuring tastings of Carnaroli di Carnaroli Pavesiano risotto with pink asparagus from Cilavegna, vegan rice salad made with Baldo organic semi-whole rice from Cascine Orsine, and Rosa Marchetti rice fritters from Azienda Tavazzani, prepared according to the historic recipe of Bartolomeo Scappi, cook to Pope Pius V.
