Spoke 3 presents: "Art Tuesdays, legal profiles of art forgery" As part of the Doctoral Course in Law and Human Sciences, the Department of Law, Economics and Cultures (DiDEC) and the Department of Human Sciences and Innovation for the Territory (DiSUIT) of the University of Insubria, lead partner of Spoke 3, have organized in collaboration with the Research Center on the History of Contemporary Art (Crisac) of the University of Insubria a cycle of 4 meetings on the legal profiles of art forgery entitled: "The Tuesdays of art".
The conferences, sponsored by the Civic Museums of Como, will take place from 06 February 2024 to 07 May 2024 at the Pinacoteca civica di Como, in via Armando Diaz 84.
The Spoke 3 Tourism and Culture Industry aims to promote economic, social and territorial development through research and innovation actions within the tourism and culture industry. The cycle of events will offer the public and university students a reflection on the complexity and importance of art and its regulation in the legal field. The involvement of the Civic Museums of Como has the aim of improving educational processes, enriching the cultural life of citizens and creating synergies aimed at sustaining the economy of the cultural and tourism sector.
One of the great problems of the art market is to guarantee the buyer the originality of the work he purchases. The difference between original and copy is often difficult to identify even in the eyes of experts, but obviously it is an aspect of decisive importance for those who decide to purchase a work of art.
To shed light on these issues, the cycle of Art Tuesdays in the 2023/2024 academic year is dedicated to the topic of forgery in art and its legal implications. The meetings will answer the various questions that art forgery raises and, in particular, what are the contractual remedies in the case of purchasing a work that turns out to be fake, who and how authenticates the work, what value do the experts' declarations have? with regard to authenticity, what investigations must the buyer carry out, what are the criminal implications and, finally, who the forger is and what role he had in the history of art.
The meetings are open to citizens and can be followed by the public in mixed mode.
